August is almost here! So much has happened!

So it’s been a hot minute! My body has decided the heat is not working for me. I just got an infusion for my crazy migraines and I’m praying this works! It’s a 3 month medication and so far, I’m feeling some relief. Of course it has to build up so I just pray that when the cooler air starts coming in, my brain will be ok with it!

I have been avoiding riding. It’s not how I used to be. I used to be a summer lover! But I didn’t get to set up my pool this year. My husband got more trailers and we are out of room! I am very excited about my new to me truck! We had been looking to upgrade me to an automatic diesel. But I really don’t like a 4x4. So the hunt was hard! God sent us the perfect buy! White Lightning is a 2019 Ram 2500 2wd. Crew cab diesel. Automatic. Yahoo! I drove it all the way home from OKC! I love this truck! He only has 31k miles! Practically brand new! The sellers came to own it after it was left at their RV park. She wanted it to go to someone who really needed it. Once I talked to her on the phone, I just knew this was it! White doesn’t have his gooseneck hitch yet but hubby says soon he will order it and install it. My silver truck, Miranda, lost her AC in June. Man that mega cab gets HOT! White lightening is my first automatic hauling vehicle since 2001! It’s been a minute! I loved hauling with a stick. But my ankle, knee and hip surgery was making it harder for me to find those gears. This truck is also the only non-deleted 6.7 we own. I cannot wait to really use it! Jeff also picked up a 20’ aluminum 2010 stock trailer that I LOVE. Just a few feet shorter than my living quarters 3 horse trailer. It’s super light but with the good heavy duty axles! I loved hauling how the center gate works. Right now it is being used to move things around. Soon it will be my run around trailer! I’m sure Cashman and Gus will love it! No tack room. But it does have a big nose for storage! So I can slide my stuff up there! The center gate is super easy to work! The old metal stock just was not sitting good on our newer dodges. It will be for sale.

It appears that we will be starting on the barn soon. My husband showed me the lay out! I will have a feed and tack room and two 12x12 stalls that I can play with. I’m sure my two boys will appreciate that during snow episodes and extreme heat! I already bought the fans for it! We will use our 6’ tall panels to make stalls until we decide how we want them.

I had to repo Whiskey. I feel so used over the whole situation. He came home skinny and riddled with fly allergy skin. I got some weight on him, got him a new coggins, a steroid shot and a sodium iodide infusion. That should clear up his skin. He is back on ulcer aid and spirulina. I finally got him back to the trainer that basically broke him back in 2023. The goal is to get him in shape then send him to my friend who sells horses on consignment! Heck, who knows, she might just buy him!he is her type! Jeff did not want him on the property any longer as they hate each other. He had to haul us since my new truck doesn’t have a hitch and I was no hauling without AC! He stayed 25’ away from whiskey at the vet and at the trainer! I gave him some love when I dropped him off. Heck, I may never see him again 🫤.

Whiskey definitely remembers Ashley! The started riding today! He will be there until around Aug 10th then go on to my friend to sell! I’m very disappointed if how my “friend” took care of or should I say did not take care of him and his girl friend, cinnamon. 🥺 They will bounce back. Cashman and Gus have been showing Cinnamon some love. Because I’m back down to two geldings, I had to put Gus over with Evie, my mini Jenny. Cashman is with Cin. Cannot leave a mini withought a big horse for protection! Maybe I need another donkey? 😜🧐

Something’s I need to say. Whenever you get to take care of someone else’s stuff…their truck, trailer, horse, tack etc, you should always return them better than you found them! This is how I was raised! If I borrowed a saddle to try, I would clean and oil it before returning it! If someone let me try a bit, I would polish before returning it. I would never “loose” something I borrowed. And if I was buying something from anyone, I’d pay for it before I expected to receive it. If I borrowed a truck, it would be returned clean and with a full tank! Heck, last time we borrowed a truck, we fixed things on it before returning! The tail gusted was wonky. My husband ordered the parts and fixed it! The tail light bulb needed replaced, that got done. We returned it with a full tank. I think he even changed the oil. This is how I was raised. But I am learning not to expect the me out of anyone.
I will say that I have become close with my new best friend. Yes, I’m claiming Marybeth! She is young but awesome! She drove me all over to pick up Cashman somewhere in Oklahoma! O course I feed her and I fed her truck for the trouble! When Lynx passed on January 26,2026, she was quick to bring me Gus to try and buy so Cashman would not be lonely! Those two are like Mutt and Jeff! Peas and Carrots! Get along like they were raised together! I was so grateful that she hauled him to me while I was soaking in grief.

I love that I can walk out to the pasture and these boys will follow me! I can lead, tie and haul them together in peace! No more alpha situation! Cashman is the alpha but zero fights! I love it! And they are 5 & 6! I look forward to what God has planned for us! Once I get my hitch and it cools down, I will be happy to start hauling them around to do things with them!

The new trailer is going to go so nice with the new truck! I also did a lot of upgrades with my horse trailer! I still love my sooner! I just installed a new fridge. It has new cabinets, new flooring and the expoxy coating on the roof! It’s way more climate friendly! If it’s super hot, my trailer is at least 10° cooled! If it’s super cold, it’s 20° warmer in there! The pour in rubber floor is in the living quarters and horse area! Best thing I ever did! No more leaks due to the expoxy coating on the roof! Maybe Cashman will be my barrel horse and we can go to races again! It’s a new herd, new dreams and new experiences! I’m also thinking about changing my brand from RES to JRM. Jeff and Rachael Myers!

Thoughts?

I could go on more about my frustrations but I think I will stick with life updates! Kolton starts school as a sophomore on August 3rd 🫣. Y’all have a blessed summer!
