Rodeo weekend!

Whoop! This mama is heading to a big race this weekend with my horse, dog and......high heels? Yeah, unfortunately after I run I have to attend a funeral. Good news is, I have a loving husband who has volunteered to watch our son all weekend! Kolton hasn't had daddy time in a while!
My goals for the weekend- to have fun! To ride my horse to the best of our ability! To work as a team! And to have a safe clean run! Praying for God's grace and glory! I know my horse is feeling better after his hock injections! This is a HUGE pattern so I'm hoping that I can flat fly to the first and make the turn! But I'm confident that Lynx will be hunting those barrels! Enjoy the weekend!

Friends, new year, new outlook

So today is the first day of 2014. For the first time in a long time Jeff and I took Kolton to a friends house and just hung out. Not family, a friend. She has a daughter a little younger. It was great! One of my goals for myself that I set back before my surgery was to become more rooted. You know, make friends. Be part of the community. Get comfortable in my surroundings. I didn't do that very well in Pineland. Not sure why but I never really felt comfortable. I'm not one to make good friends easy. I don't trust. I'm sociable enough but to actually spend time with someone at their home or my home.....well I just don't. I mean yeah, I have a friend or two that I would visit. anyhow, I think it's time to grow up a little and start to get comfortable in my surroundings. We don't plan to move any time in the next ten years so I think it's safe to make friends now right? So I opened myself up to a friend. And we have a lot in common! I'm really excited because we are actually both in a similar boat. Same age too. We seem to motivate each other. This is a great thing for me! But like I said, I have a hard time letting people in. However this friend just fits right in. I am thinking that our future as friends will be long. With that being said, we are making plans for youth rodeos involving our young kids as well as her two older kids. I'm also going to invade her arena and get her to ride more! It seems weird that I am so excited about a new friend but really, I suck at keeping friends around! Lol I'm kind of a hermit! So we shall see. This new year is going to be life changing. Kolton will have to quit daycare/school and go back to Mother's Day out. He is so smart and I hate to take him out of his school program but money is tight. He is only three and will be in school soon enough. This means he and I are going to have to work together to get the horses into shape. I'm hoping that he is old enough to stay put in an area or to put on his horse so I can ride with him. I'm sure we will figure it all out. But then there is the hauling. Hopefully my friend will be around to help out but I know that my kid and I will need to really work as a team! Thank God for Jeff. He supports my barrel racing so I know that he will also be there to watch Kolton so I can go rodeo. Hopefully with my change from barrel racing to rodeo the boys will be more apt to come watch! Then there is my horses. Two to ride. Well three if we count Gabe! But Gabe will just be carrying around Kolton so not as much work. All in all, this year will be full of firsts and change! I'm very excited! Now if I can just heal so I can get strong and get back in the saddle, I will be one happy happy happy gal! Oh and if I could go to sleep.....that would be nice too!

Rodeo is on my mind....

So I am still on "sick leave" since my hip surgery. But I really have been thinking about my upcoming barrel racing season! 6 weeks left of rehab then I get to crawl back in the saddle! I have Lynx to get in shape then Goose to get patterned on barrels! So I have set some goals.....I plan to get back in shape and hit some barrel races then start entering open rodeos. In October Cowboys Professional Rodeo Association will start up their season. If Lynx takes to the local open rodeos, I want to enter up CPRA. If he does good there.....we might just try to go with WPRA! Im only 35.....or fixing to be 35. Now is the perfect time to rodeo right? Most of all, I think Jeff and Kolton will enjoy coming to rodeos with me vs barrel races. What do yall think? Jeff has already said he is on board! This is gonna be fun! The CPRA runs in Corsicanna, Navasota, and south Houston. So I have the ranch in Nav, Corsicanna is close. I have never had the rodeo bug....not until Lynx started to hit in the 1D. Now I feel like I would be selling my self short if I didnt try. WNFR might be in the sights for 2015 :-) Now if I could find a sponsor or five......

Why Cant I....

Why cant I just stop and enjoy life? Just stop and grow some roots and enjoy what we as a family own and do. Why not? Why do I have to have a job? Because society says I have too have a job. Well screw that. Yeah money is nice but I think I need to change my way of thinking. I think I need to stop trying to figure out ways to make money and start figuring out ways to save money. I think its time for me to learn how to be part of the community and learn how to grow roots. Jeff and I have no intentions of moving. We love our home. We plan to stay here for a while. We will figure out what to do about the crappy school district when we need too but perhaps by then it will change. Or maybe by then another private school will open! Or heck, our church has an affordable school! k-12! So for now, I need to slow it down and back up. I need to re-evaluate what is really important in life. My family comes first. Next my horses and animals, my extended family then everything else. So perhaps, after I recover from my hip surgery, Kolton can go to mothers day out vs day care. That will save us a lot of money and he can still have a learning experience and I can still have some time! Then I will work on my horses. I have Lynx to get in shape and then Goose will need to be patterned. Yeah, I think that is what I will do. Then I imagine Kolton will want to ride too. He and Gabe will get along great. Kolton actually ASKED to ride HIS horse when we were at the junior rodeo! SO of course we saddled him up since Gabe was there and he asked! Jeff led him around for like 20 minutes! I bet by next spring he will want to compete~ and I think we can do that! The youth rodeo that we went too has things for all ages!Perhaps if I get involved there I can meet folks and actually start to put down some real roots. Knowing that we are going to stay here, it really makes me want to get out an meet people. I have always been one to keep to myself. I am not big on having a lot of friends. I dont feel the need to go to social gatherings. Never really have. In fact I rather sit at home and watch TV but perhaps its time to change! I think I need to stop turning people down when I am invited to go places! Anyhow, I just feel like I was programmed to succeed. To find a job making millions. To become this career driven mad woman where I am the bread winner. Yeah, I dont think that fits me at all. I do like to feel like I have a purpose but I have a child. He is now my purpose! I have a family. I have a home. I have a community. I need to stop and look around. I am not worthless just because I dont pull in the big bucks. My husband wants to provide for us. There is nothing wrong with that! Anyhow, hip surgery is scheduled for Monday! I need to get through that and heal!

Humph

So another year and another surgery. I would ask why me but I know that God has a plan. It seems that over the last several years I have been steadily working on tearing up my hip joint. I have a torn labrum (socket) and a strange boney surface to my femoral head that most likely tore the labrum. On top of that, I have managed to get a hernia in a weird place and messed up the bottom tip of my pelvis. All of this is very painful when I bear weight on my hip. I am looking for 2-3 surgeries and a lot of physical therapy.
Funny thing is, when looking at my hip X-ray and looking and my horse, Lynx's X-ray of his hips, they are similar minus the bony femoral head and tear. I guess we have a very very very special bond!

So, for the next six months I won't be writing about the wonderful run I had last night or how my horse is finally getting in shape. No, I have decided to stay positive and write about how my son can recite all of his books! And how my husband did a great job being Mr. mom yesterday! These are the things that will make me smile! And you know what, they should be in center stage!
Most of all I am seeing a lot more of God's love around me. Folks offering to help. Strangers even. A smile and a "how is your day" from a random person whom I replied "it's great! And how about you?" Rather than dwell on the fact that I was sitting in the cart at Walmart. Yeah, life is gonna be OK. I have faith. I can stop and feel sorry for myself but I think I will do my best to look up instead!

Blah

I have not posted in a few weeks. I just have not had time! But today, I do. So here ya go! I am sick of FB....share this to win, like this page, click here to see if you are a looser. Ya know? It went from being personal to being a giant never ending advertisement page. With that being said, I do like to sell things in my little groups. But having to weed through all the other crap to get updates from my friends. IDK, just annoyed. I actually thought about killing my business. Im not sure why. I just feel like it is more of a pain in the ass than its worth sometimes. I dont make any money. Its like I am nothing more than just a damn social link for people and not a good one either. I think I need to step away from it for a while. I am missing out on life because I am trying too hard to keep everything going at once. That being said, I am tired. Really Really Really tired. I cant shake the feeling that my body is trying really hard to tell me something. I go to bed early (10 pm) and its not like I am just overly crazy stressed or anything but damn it, I want to take a 2-12 hour nap every day. Something is wrong. I am on all these hormones that are suppose to balance me out but its like I see the light at the end of the tunnel but I just dont have the energy to walk down the dang thing to get to it. Im really not sure why. My son goes to school every day. I dont have to chase him around all day long any more. I work all of two days a week and its nice to go to work, not crazy like it will be soon. When I am home, I dont really ever stop moving. Im either cleaning, riding, taking care of this that and the other or running errands. By the time I sit still I go get Kolton then I dont get another chance till its time to go to bed. But really, isnt that everyone? Why do I feel like I am doing 100 times more than I am capable of???? They just did more blood work on me. Lets see what that shows. Maybe I just need more or less of something? There is no amount of caffeine in the world that will wake me up either. I feel bad for even complaining about it really. I am sure we are all tired but in the back of my mind I feel as if something is wrong. On a lighter note, I got to see my family this weekend! It was great to see everyone and I was, of course, full of advice...lol Seems that adding alcohol to my brain causes me to be full of wisdom.....Im sure I annoyed the hell out of everyone. And why did the singer of the band seem to think I was the one to hit on? Shit, I was chasing around a two year old or kissing on my husband most of the time! Anyhow, it was nice to be hit on I guess....not really. But we had a great time and made it back to our house in time to still get things done at home. Kolton got to meet everyone too. On the way home Jeff asked how I think our lives would be different had we chosen to move back toward College Station vs where we are. Truthfully? God wanted us right where we are. I know it. I feel it deep inside. I feel like I am HOME. I love my family and miss them all but really, I am more happy in our home now that I have ever been in my life. Sure, I would love to go spend the weekend at the ranch or at an Aggie football game. But do I want to live there? Not really. I am not sure when my desire to live in College Station diminished. But it did. I guess I am finally happy! OK off to take a nap now.....
