I Have The Lemons.... Now What?

I am over here in Texas wondering when the rain will let up. But that is not the only thing. I also tweaked my hip and aggravated my knee injury (happened just before covid and never got it looked at) that is making my hip hurt worse. Of all things, I slipped on a dog bone and did the full splits with my bad hip/knee going forward and good one to the back. ALL THE WAY DOWN. See, in 2013, I had my hip socket and femoral head reconstructed due to an injury. It was successful but never 100%. He, my surgeon, told me to never do the splits, get bucked off or do stupid stuff. So a dog bone took me out..... Yeah, didn't see that happening! Now it is nauseating to ride. My knee is holding fluid. Add in the mud and you have one cowgirl that is very sore and very frustrated.

Good news is that I was able to get to the surgeon quickly. He gave me some PT stuff to do at home and identified the adhesion in my socket. He also identified my knee issue and quickly got me in for an MRI for the knee and to see his knee specialist! Oh and I already have a couple of knee braces that I have been using for a theoretical bandaid since I did the deed a while back. Im pretty sure I tore my meniscus.

Moving forward....I also have four muddy dogs. VERY muddy dogs. One of which is a puppy (7 months) and needs his outside time!!! I have been taking Slick the Cow dog and Cole, my Christmas Blue Heeler that is about 3-4 years old, to walk around the back pasture and let them run. I guess that since I am officially injured I should attempt to unbury my four wheeler (behind 2 mowers) to let them run. Honestly, walking is good and bad at the same time. It's the slipping in the mud that really kills me. My husband has a negative association with the pup. He says that every time he pets him, he pees. Well....He is a PUPPY and has a bad case of happy bladder. Sigh. It's going to be really interesting if I have to have any surgery!

This seems like a really down post. Why? because it is.My property is muddy. More rain on the way. I have lesson students ready to come ride but it just keeps raining. I did clean the house only to have the dogs come in and lay down another layer of mud. I have been cooking Hello Fresh meals and that is going good!

All in all, I just wish I could sit on the couch vs my bed. I can't. It seriously hurts. I wish I could at least play outside. I can't. It keeps raining. I wish I could get my dogs clean. I can't. Their yard is sloppy mud. I wish I could wash down my horses and tend to their needs. I cant. I literally do not have any where to clean them up except my driveway and no place to tie them up there. I wish we could go to the water park. Again, it keeps raining. I wish I was at least 95% without pain. I'm not. I am missing the use of my right hip/knee for now. I wish I could get in the truck and go some where. But again....Im in pain and my AC is on the fritz...So Here I Sit with my lemons. I need limes so I can make margaritas!!! Send them over! Heck, just send the Margaritas! I'd also enjoy a porch swing with cushions!!!

That One Horse

We all have that one horse. You know. The one that makes us who we are today. The one that you wish you could keep forever. The one who taught you a lot and worked so hard for you at the same time. Some of us are blessed to get more than one. I'm very blessed to say that I have personally been the proud owner (or owned by) at least four of the version of that one horse! T.J. Was my first horse. He taught me all the things NOT to do when running a barrel horse. He also taught me grit. He taught me to listen. He taught me to be more aware of what is going on. He died too soon at the age of 19 in the fall of 2005. Next was Gabe. Yes I had a few between T.J. and Gabe but I have to skip over Thomas I didn't get as much time with them as I have Gabe. Gabe was that $800 yearling full of piss and vinegar from the get go. He was a hard nut to crack but on the inside, he has a heart of gold. But he wants things just so. He taught me to rejoice with the little accomplishments. He might have been a 3D local, 4/5D at big shows sort of barrel horse but he won his far share! Gabe is now 17 and retired. He has done it all from team penning, barrel racing, moving cows and right down to giving lessons. He also was able to carry my child through a year of playdays. If I had the money, I would put the $3000 in to him to fix what ever is wrong with him but honestly, he is fat, happy, and totally earned his right to be a sassy pasture ornament! When we were running, he gave his all. He was honest. If something was wrong, he told me. However, that punk would devour a set of reins, lead ropes, and in some situations, someone else's tack set! Not even kidding! He won a saddle, a buckle and a ton of other little things. He also won a lot of money! But due to weird circumstances, he is now just retired. Lynx is next. Lynx is my weirdo barrel horse! He is now 11. Born on our ranch out of a mare that was also born on our ranch. Oddly enough, he is the result of my hand picked bloodlines on a budget! I didn't plan on keeping him. Nope, he was for sale as a yearling and no one wanted him. Can't blame them. Despite his pedigree, he was an ugly ducking! Some how he ended up being mine. That blonde spot on his neck was something he was born with and he also has one on his front ankle. I had a dream about him before he was born and knew what he would look like before he hit the ground. Sure enough, my dream came true! He came out exactly like I dreamed! None the less, I had him for sale for $1500 and no bites. Finally I managed to get him from my dad and bring him home. I had no idea he would be the athlete that he is today! He has won about five buckles (I really need to count them) I don't even know how much money, and 3 saddles to date. I have never, in my life, had a horse that would run full speed to the first barrel and wrap it! It's a feeling like no other! I also have never owned a horse that ran in the 1D/2D at most all of his races! He is quirky. He has his special little things that I do just for him. He likes a routine. He wants me to say "Are you ready?? Lets Go!" In the alley! He loves his "special care" before each run and he is insanely jealous of attention that I give to anyone when I am riding him. He doesn't like me to answer my phone when we are riding. He hates anything heavy on his head. In fact, we ride in a super light snaffle with a super light headstall at home and we run in a super light bit. Even my race day reins are light and without snaps. To this day, no one has ever run him on barrels except me. Dee and Robert Carlton broke him and put a trotting pattern on him late in his 2nd year. But no one will ever run him except me. With that being said, he is an awesome lesson horse!! He will pack the kids around all day long. He rides like an English please horse at home (too fast for a western pleasure horse). He is a phenomenon! It just so happens that we bred Lynx's Dam back and Goose aka Perks on the Fly came into my life. Another well bred foal that no one wanted. He was born a gurlla and yes, I also had a dream about him before he hit the ground. I even have a sculpture that I made some 25 years ago that matches his markings. True to the mare's off spring, Goose is also quirky. However, he too went off to Dee and Robert and came back with the same pattern as Lynx. You can literally put their videos side by side and see how they maneuver around the pattern. Goose has had some really random stuff that we had to work through. Luckily I learned how to listen. Finally, at age 7, he is being entered into barrel races!!! I had to get some help though and I am not ashamed to say, I just don't have the trust bond like I do with Lynx to push Goose on the pattern. Well, God threw a 20 year old into my life whom is assuming the position of Jockey for Goose. I am super thrilled with how he is taking to his new life as a barrel horse!!! I have no doubt that he will give Lynx a run for his money! I really enjoy riding him at home. For the first time in my life, I have two that I really love to ride! Its just sort of crazy that they are maternal brothers!!!! They are both big boys! Zbar Lynx To Cash stands 15.3 hands and turns like a little cutter. Perks on the Fly stands 16.1 hands high and also turns like a little cutter! How on earth did I get so lucky to have these two??? Oh yeah...I am blessed! All in all, I have to say that God has really put the right horses in my path and the right people to guide and help me along the way! We might have to deal with some quirks here and there. But I feel that God has a plan for me! He is not done with me! So I will keep on riding Lynx and Goose and if I am really blessed, I will get one more foal out of Roxy (their Dam). I will be 40 in January and I am looking forward to the next chapter with Goose as my wing man and Lynx as my rock star! So when you loose "that one horse" understand that it might not be the end but the next chapter. Like I said, I have been blessed with 4! Don't give up. Just be patient and wait. If your heart is really in it and you trust God, your life will be filled with wonderful horses! I would not trade all the heart ache for the blessings that have been put on my plate!

Rodeo is on my mind....

So I am still on "sick leave" since my hip surgery. But I really have been thinking about my upcoming barrel racing season! 6 weeks left of rehab then I get to crawl back in the saddle! I have Lynx to get in shape then Goose to get patterned on barrels! So I have set some goals.....I plan to get back in shape and hit some barrel races then start entering open rodeos. In October Cowboys Professional Rodeo Association will start up their season. If Lynx takes to the local open rodeos, I want to enter up CPRA. If he does good there.....we might just try to go with WPRA! Im only 35.....or fixing to be 35. Now is the perfect time to rodeo right? Most of all, I think Jeff and Kolton will enjoy coming to rodeos with me vs barrel races. What do yall think? Jeff has already said he is on board! This is gonna be fun! The CPRA runs in Corsicanna, Navasota, and south Houston. So I have the ranch in Nav, Corsicanna is close. I have never had the rodeo bug....not until Lynx started to hit in the 1D. Now I feel like I would be selling my self short if I didnt try. WNFR might be in the sights for 2015 :-) Now if I could find a sponsor or five......

Been Riding

Well a while ago I traded Hick, our butt head red dun gelding, for a little mare named Sandy Triple Bar aka Trip. I have a really good feeling about this mare....she is smart, quick and broke...Anyhow, I have been riding her a lot. I really enjoy riding her. She is a smaller mare. Actually the size of my first horse, TJ. She is only 14.2hh. But she is wide and gonna get really wide here pretty quick! You can roll an egg down her back! Anyhow, she has picked up on the pattern so fast I am still in awe....We are now loping the pattern and I really want to take her to some place and make a run on her to see what she clocks. She might even be ready to enter up....Keep in mind, she was a rope horse and has never seen the cans till I got her and has only been worked on the cans for a month......she is smart!
Yesterday I rode Joe and Lynx. Booth of which are growing like weeds with all this fresh grass we have right now. Joe did lope a nice pattern yesterday after I worked the snot out of him in the round pen to get the buck out...lol Lynx was being confused, but that is OK. He is a baby.
I plan to ride Trip and Gabe today. It seems I ride the two sorrels (Joe and Lynx) one day then the two bays (trip and gabe) the next. Problem is this......I am down to one saddle that fits 3 ponies really well then another saddle that kinda fits Lynx.....so I guess I better find another saddle like the one I have that fits 3 ponies....lol

I am Here!

OK, sorry for no updates. A lot has been going on. First of all, Hick is back at our house. I sold him to my farrier in exchange for services....and that was all of 3 months ago. Well, I heard that Hick was being starved down....they were right. So we went and picked him up after I told my farrier (now ex-farrier) that someone was interested in him and I was coming to get him. He had mentioned sell him to pay us off.....I loaded Hick up and never looked my farrier in the eye. He did not make any excuses. I did not give him the chance because I was going to kick his ass. Anyhow, Hick is home Here is a before and after pic...

Yeah I am pissed. But I did what I could and got him home. Basically he was rode HARD and not given any groceries. Only grass and a round bale...and not de-wormed either. I rode him yesterday and on one hand, he was way better than before...no more buck no more rear....BUT he was OFF. I know his back needs to be adjusted and it seems he is sore on his hocks. I will get him fixed up in due time.

Joe is doing GREAT! I worked him yesterday too and WOW. We warmed up then I put the little lite hack on him and climbed on. I was trotting him around the round pen and decided to ask him to zig and zag....OMG that horse can flat out MOVE! I asked him to turn into the fence a few times too and I got to tell you that I almost lost my seat! THEN he asked me if we could do it at a lope...he likes to gain speed going into his turns! I love it! So we started doing it at the lope and he got faster and turned harder! Thank God for the saddle horn! LMAO. Anyhow, Joe is not for sale anymore. We are almost over our little issues and I am in love with the way he moves!!!

Health update.....Jeff has strep and guess what. Now I have fever, a rash and sore throat...Hmmm. Jeff has been in bed since Friday. I bet I am SICK...GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I would say that I will go to the doc tomorrow, but my co-worker left town and I have to work...SO....Anyhow, Jeff is going. He has that rash ALL over. Be aware folks, this strep is spreading like wild fire!

Sunday, March 8, 2009

Good Morning.

Yup, I have been a little distant....But trust me, you would rather me that way! My hormones are raging...has to do with the new meds the doc put me on. I have not been sleeping more than 2 hours at a time and boy howdy....have I been cussing! But, I will be OK. Here is my little rant for the day.
Yesterday, I ran in Crockett! Gabe and i are a little slower right now, but we have changed our turning style....For some reason, he has begun to hind end pivot on the back side of the barrel. Its great! I think its because he can move better with out the saddle pinching him. Also, I have been rubbing his ankles and stifles down with surpass before our run and he is back on pureform. So, all in all, he/we are doing better. But we need to get the forward motion back to gain our speed again! OH and some sweet girl closed the gate for me so I did not have to worry about him running anyone over......BUT since it was a first for me with out being at WBR or Destrys....so I did not push hard home. BUT I think it landed us in the 5D...I dont know for sure though because I had to get home to meet the dentist. Tottie, Lynx, Joe and Gabe got their teeth done last night and I must say...POOR JOE!

OK, i have to say this or my head will explode. What is wrong with people? I mean...why do folks assume that I hate them? Why do folks assume that I think they are guilty? "Now that I appear guilty by knowledge I was not in the same state as you when this happened." this was stated...Ugh. Um, I dont think that she did anything...Anyhow, it pisses me off. Number one that some folks think its funny to piss me off then number two...that they get mad at me when it upsets me....I give up. Evidently I am a horrible person and dont have any sense of humor. Oh well. For those of you who are actually my friends out there, thanks. Sorry that I am so horrible. I live to ride. I live to take care of my husband and love my little family. I live to live. I have few friends that I can seriously call friends. You know who you are. I have a lot of acquaintances. I decided right now that I will only allow positive people to be in my life. Not to say that I wont be the shoulder to cry on, but I cant allow anyone else to tear me down. So, unless you plan to be a god friend through thick and thin, please walk away. Unless you plan to support me and allow me to be supportive, then please, stop calling me. I will understand. Love me.

Not Sure..

Not sure what got into me, but I decided to change my Blog a little!! LOL As for me, I am COLD....Brrrrrrrrr....Gabe rode great last weekend but it seems our tree might be broken in my new freakin saddle. SOOOOO, it goes back to its maker as soon as they call me back with the day it is to be picked up....Sigh. Back into my 10yo Billy Cook Saddle that I broke Gabe in....I hope I can remember how to ride in it! Watch me go out there and win a bunch in that saddle and never ride the "new One" again....LOL gabe is getting very toned and has a lot of life to his step these days. He is on Purform Performance One. It has creatine and such in it. He looks GREAT! Also, he is NOT ALLOWED to do his sweet, smooth, nice pleasure trot anymore. Now we LONG trot or Lope....That is it. No more lazy. I had to change that because I am allowing him to be lazy...Ugh. I miss it! But it is totally showing in our riding. He is getting a lot quicker on his reaction times. No riding this week due to the really cold wet weather and the fact that he is a little sore from the broken saddle.
Joe is doing good too. I put a huge black tarp all over him and strapped it to the saddle horn so that the 30mph wind would blow it all over him as he worked in the round pen. He did AWESOME!! I then got the lariat rope and introduced it to him. Not so thrilled on that, but he finally relaxed. I am hoping if I do this stuff a bunch, I can get the spook out and gain the trust back. He is a super great horse! I no longer have him for sale either.
Hick is now living with my farrier. They like each other so far...OK time to go home and light a fire in the fireplace!!

Hello!!

Sorry I have been away!! I am doing good, but soooo busy!! I have been active on 3 barrel racing forums as well as keeping up with placing new ads on my website. I have also been working my real job!! LOL I went to a barrel racing clinic last weekend and realized that I have a nice horse! I have been in training mode for so long that I forgot how to just let one run the barrels!! It was a huge wake up call! I also changed his feet up some on Friday and i ran him Saturday....Kind of like changing your shoes from tennis shoes that you love to boots. It takes some time to get used too the new shape and can make you sore!! Well, I should have saved our money yesterday and not run, but I did not see that he was sore until after our run. Poor Gabe. He is just a little sore, so he gets today off! It is sooo cold out and windy. Since I have been proned to ear infections, I choose to stay inside when it is windy and cold! I had a horrible crick in my neck all last week. Must have been from being on the computer too much!!! LOL Actually, I have no clue what did it, but I could not turn my neck for several days. Nothing helped!!

I got some new cream for my horse that I am using on myself. Diflonac? Anyhow, it works good, but not on the crick! Hubby is outside doing chores. I think he is cleaning stalls and triming trees. My shoulders hurt so bad, I cannot do that stuff. So, I decided to catch you guys up! I still have that funny lower abdominal pain, but I am getting used too it. I am pretty sure it is female stuff, so I will find me a good female doc after the first of the year. I need one anyhow! OK, I sure hope you guys are enjoying your holidays and your family!

Its Sunday!

Well, been a weekend and a half. The farrier came out Yesterday and did 7 of the 8 horses. Cooter also got his halter changed out and he was so cute about it!! He would not let me catch him to change it. So, when I went to go put everyone up for the farrier, I managed to catch him in a small stall. I gently put the lead rope over his neck and he kind of set back a little, then i explained to him why it was important.....LOL he let me put the new one on over the old one and I exchanged the two halters. Then, I rubbed the dent in his nose where the other halter was rubbing him raw. He seemed to like that! He has never let me rub his face, so this was a BIG change!
Dually was the best out of all the horses for his feet yesterday. In fact, he was an angel!
Lynx is doing good. He and the farrier had their argument, but they came to an understanding. I found out that he loves his tail brushed!!! LOL At first, he wanted nothing to do with all of that....then, he decided that it was awesome!!!
Today, i cleaned the horse part of the trailer. I did too much, but it need to be done and the fact that I got up and did something made me feel so much better! I got out the EQ Solutions and pulled the mats up and all. I scrubbed. The white is now white! LOL Then, Jeff came home for lunch and he put the second slant and the saddle rack back in there. I added velcro strips to the saddle racks to help with the traction for the saddles. They keep falling off the slick rack. I dont think i have to worry with that now!!! YAY!!! Brooke said she is coming over to ride tonight. Bad thing is, i have done way to much today and I am in a lot of pain. Maybe she will help me feed and such.

Oh Snap!!! I am NOT A Bronc Rider!!!!!!!!!

My Ass HURTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK, so Joe has had about 6 weeks off. I rode him yesterday and he rode great. I warmed him up in the round pen for about 5 minutes before climbing on....he is two...I do that.... Anyhow, He never offered to buck and really has not offered to buck since back in March. I get on him. We long trot and lope both directions in the round pen....so far, so good. I take him out of the round pen and we walk. Good....all good. We trot....good, all good. We begin to lope...NOPE, not gonna lope!!! Instead, we are gonna launch!!! This colt can buck now, I tell ya.... He has this thing about getting his back legs all the way up over his head....Then he brings that front end up and comes back down in a completely different direction!!! Fish Tail Deluxe. I am pretty sure i made it to the whistle, but not much longer. I found the horn. Normally, the horn is NOT my friend. Again, this proves true. I also managed to grab his face and the top of the headstall. Spurs grabbed too though and that is NOT good. I remembered that and turned my feet away from his sides. Then we go up 3 more times and I go to the side. Joe bolts and I drop on my neck, shoulder and ASS!!!! I think i might have bruised all four, upper and lower front teeth along my ass, hip and some how I managed to get grass in my pants and my bra... blah I am sitting up long enough to type this, but not sure how long I can do this. Soooooooo, here I am, alive and bruised. OH and hubby was home. I hollered 3 times for him and he was there to tell me to sit still. I did get back on Joe and loped him in the round pen. I dont like to end this way, so I ran him 4 laps and got on him. OUCH is all i can say....But we did lope several laps before I just could not do it any more.

Weird Dreams!!!

So, I have these movie quality dreams....had one last night that was horse specific!!! OK, something happened at a race.....not really sure, but, I was in an ambulance with 5 other barrel racers. We went over this bridge and say these folks hanging from regular balloons. We looked down to the water and it was crystal clear, white sand beaches (yeah on a bridge in an ambulance) Loads of folks having fun. Well, me and my peps made the mistake of saying forget the hospital just take us there!! Well, we ended up in a long line. yup, on the beach.....we were no longer in need of medical care.... I think we might have passed.....OK, so next, we go to the check in counter.....just like at a barrel race and we start asking what our draw number was to get on to the beach!!! I get this wild hair and asked where the horses are. She said that horses don't come here. All horses go to the other Heaven. Bad thing was, I asked this after everyone else checked in and I was last in line of my peeps. I knew I had to go after them and tell them that No horses were allowed in this Heaven!!! We had to get the heck out!!

After a long struggle of telling my fellow barrel racers, I convinced them that we had to get out and away from this HELL cause Heaven would have horses!!!! Well, then night falls.......we find out that we are truly in HELL. And, there is NO WAY out. Then I realized that my body was still on earth in a hospital and I had to choose to leave my peeps behind so I could go back to Earth and live to make that choice between Heaven and Hell again. It was very hard and I had many obstacles to go through, but, i made it.

Seriously, this was a dream that I just woke from. What do I think it means? Walk with God in your life and you will never have to worry about making the wrong choice when the time comes......Oh, and sometimes you have to break away from the crowd to save your own soul. Most of all, if there are not Horses in eternity, I rather live forever on Earth!!!

Gabe Got Some Schooling Today....Joe is at the Trainer!

Well, I jsut spent $35 for a well needed lesson on Gabe. JR rode him and really worked him over. He said he is being LAZY and has my number.....He has been lying and cheating me...So, we fixed it! Man, it felt so good to run even if it was in a saddle that was too big and stirrups too long, I was kicking my heart out and managed to not come off!!! Dang, that horse can INHALE a barrel!!! I could not believe it!!! JR showed me how to fix our issues and gave me some home work. YUP, we might just be stepping up!!!! I want to wait till July to run him, but that will be here pretty quick! We will be working in the o-ring sometimes with the running martingale and sometimes with out. I need to get his face and get him to quit leaning on the bit! OH, and get his freakin head down when I ask for his face!!!! But, we can do it! I proved that today! I am so readly to run him again!

Joe will be at the trainer (JR) for a month and I sure he will come back with a heck of a handle and many hours of saddle time. I think this trainer will be on my top list for my colts!

Been A While!

Well, its has been a while and a LOT has been going on! Joe is off in Vinton having surgery. He is having his balls removed....One of them was deep inside of his abdominal cavity.....he also was freeze branded and had his leg x-rayed. He is FINE! He will return home on Tuesday! Gabe on the other hand had a full work up. He had to have both front ankles injected as well as his left stifle. Yeah, that might explain why he decided to act like TJ at the last barrel race! So, he should be fine! But, it took a BIG toll on the pocket book!!!! YIKES! Gabe's bill was $699 and there is NO telling what Joe's surgery cost! OMG I dont even want to see that bill!!! But, all is well.

Gauge is getting BIG and cute! Dually and Cooter are growing fast too! Tottie is getting more and more like a horse that will stay around for a LONG while! We love her and decided not to sell her. She is so docile and easy to work with. Jeff has been leaning on her back and she just stands there. She will follow you anywhere in the pasture. Chivas and Cooter are still up for sale and hopefully she is bred to Joe. We will be taking Chivas and Day to Delta Equine to have them palpated and get Day's stifles injected. We are also going to go ahead and geld Dually. He dropped at day 5 and is still dropped. We have been told that since he is dropped, we can cut him and it is actually easier on them at this age than it would be at a later date! So, why not!!!

Jeff and I are doing great! Just trying to get the bills paid, trailer fixed up (both of them) animals taken care of and such. He got me a frame for Mothers Day! Anyhow, all is well!

Foal Watch

Well, Day was showing all of the signs of foaling late last night. Sooooo, being the person that I am, I got all wired up and told Jeff to go on to bed and I will check her. Yeah, about 2AM I was crashed on the couch. :( I woke up with a crooked neck, no foal and very sleepy....

New Foal Born This Morning!

Well, Our buckskin mare, Chivas, put a pretty little stud colt on the ground this morning! He is a sorrel (we think) and has a tadpole on his face! Way cute and totally sweet!!!! Now, we are waiting on Baby #2 who will be a filly just cause I want a colt, LOL. Anyhow, Jeff and I feel blessed today!

Oh, My

Well, it has been a nasty week in the barn...Sigh. All i have wanted to do all week is ride. I had to work till dark Mon, Tues, and Wed. So, that pretty much too care of that. Then, Thurs I was going to ride and I got home to a MUDDY riding area and MUDDY horses along with bone chilling cold and wind. My ears hurt just walking out to the barn to let Joe out. OMG, today it was even nastier. I went and got a massage this morning with plans to take Gabe, Joe and Day in for Coggins and pick up vaccinations for everyone. NOPE, did not happen. As soon as I stepped foot out of the massage office, it started to rain.....BRRRRRRR!!!!!! I called all my plans off for the day and came home to the couch. I got some major rest, which I think my body needed anyway, and fed the horses. I did manage to let the boys into the front paddock to munch on the round bale for several hours. Bad thing is that it started raining before I could get them all up. Grrr! That means that i now get to look for snotty noses by the weekend. Anyhow, i am snug as a bug in a rug in the house right now!!!

Life in General

Well, sorry I have been dragging on my blog. But, it seems that I have some things to say that some peeps really dont want to hear and this blog is my online diary and I dont want to say what is really on my mind!!! Anyhow, I dont like it when my friends dont get along. I dont like it when someone is mad at a friend who is honestly not trying to do anything wrong, she is just having a hard time...both of these friends are having a hard time and they are now focused on each other..........ouch.....that one hurts. Anyhow, I am also one that trys to keep peace and dont like to have people fighting around me. There enough said about that.

Now, back to the ponies. Gabe did OK this week at our barrel race. I did do my 2 exhibitions, one at a trot for him to see the arena and the other at a slow lope so I can pop his ass to get him around the barrel. After that, we had our run about 4 hours later. he was DRAGGING ASS to the first barrel. No, the dirt was perfect so he was not getting "hung up", and Yes I pushed him all the way to the barrel.......He was jsut dragging Ass!!!! Well, we ended up with a 16.680 and I thought it was gonna be an 18 second run by the way he went to the first. But, he actually had a decent time. Too fast for the 5D and too slow for the 4D, but, a decent time. A 15.1 was winning it then it dropped to a 14.8...WOW...Blew us out of the water!!! Well, I just cannot figure out what the hell happened. Everyone reemed my run and I am very hesitant to even put it on youtube cause I was not happy. But, it was just a barrel race. However, this year we have an angel who is sponsoring Gabe the Babe and I want to show him that we are worthy of the sponsorship!!!

Advice I have gotten so far is to NOT exhibition him, remove the back girth.... push harder, use my whip...yada yada...I will not run with out the back girth cause it really messes me up when the saddle hits me in the ass. Whiping to the first in this small ass arena was not a thought that crossed my mind cause Gabe has been blowing to the first and scaring the crap outta me. I worry that he will blow past. BUT, I did kick all theway!!! And, I kept my ass out of the saddle!!! Not exhibitioning??? WTF!! Gabe will be 7 in April and has been hauled, but, never to this pen! We always do an exhibition to show him the ground, scary horse eating monsters, and all that jazz.....The free for all is coming up and we will have two runs in the same race. I will go ahead and not exhibition him cause that might just be it...maybe I am wearing him out or something even though we are jsut going slow on the exhibitions. IDK...

As far as the rest of life goes, Jeff and I are doing great. He is sick still and I pulled a muscle or something in my hip, so, the love life has been a little short, but, thats OK, we will be back at it soon. I know, TMI, but, i had to say it!!! Also, I ahve to get back to riding the piss out of Gabe and Hick TODAY!!! I dont care how cold it is, we are gonna get back to our program TODAY!!! OK, thats all for now!!!

A lot on my mind...

Well, its cold outside!!! YEAH!!! I get to ride Gabe today too!!! He got new shoes! We decided to go with fronts only....I am procrastinating on letting the ponies out cause its still 35 degrees out!!! They are still in their stalls and Colt is out there barking like mad at them!! Silly dog! I guess I will go out and turn them out here in a minute!
On the bad side, Ruger did not want his breakfast this morning. That means renal failure is on its way. Time for Chicken breast and rice. Sigh. He is on an antibiotic and an anti fungal. The anti fungal is what will cause the renal failure. I sure hope that my special package get here soon with his herbal remedies. I am not ready to loose him............

As far as life goes, all is well!!! I went Christmas Shopping for Jeff and got all kinds of goodies for both of us. He had no idea until he saw all the wrapped packages....We had already exchanged gifts, but, i felt that he needed something to open on Christmas Morning!

Its been a while, but...

OK, sorry its been so long. Been kinda distracted!!! With Barrel racing, Riding horses, planning our trip to Vegas...
Anyhow, Bad news for the day is that Ruger's Abscess is back. He has a huge lump on his jaw...he is off to the vet as soon as I get off of work. He might stay there for the week while we are gone. Gabe is doing good. Even without back shoes...actually better without the back shoes!!!! Hick is coming along really nice. Joe has gotten taller every day and so has Tottie. I guess what I am trying to say is all is well in the barn.
I did loose my favorite cat "Tator" a few weeks ago and "butters" too. I rescued 2 female 8wk old kittens that are in the barn now. I cant catch them, but, they are not running from me as much anymore. I think they will come around pretty soon!!!
Jeff and I will be off on our honeymoon next week!!! Gabe won $109 at the cajun classic last week and had some awesome runs!!! I also got my logos for my horse trailer Thanks to Bobby!!! Today, I got on ebay and found a really nice Navy Blanket for Gabe. We are gonna get it embroidered!!! I am totally excited about that! I also ordered my Business cards yesterday too!!! Well, if you dont hear from me for a while its cause Jeff would not let me take the laptop to vegas on our honeymoon!!!
