The Drive That is Alive Inside Us All!

I woke up at 6am and jumped out of bed to throw on some jeans, boots and head to the barn..Why you ask? I have been having a really hard time getting out of bed for the last year. Basically, the snooze button was my friend and my pillow was the enemy....I just did not have the drive to get up and be "functional".

I started to think about why it is that when I head home my head ache that I have had all day and the sleepiness that has been lingering all day just goes away!!! Well, I figured it out! My horses. My horses drive the evil monsters from my soul. This is what sets barrel racers and horse owners/ riders apart from the rest of the world! We would rather be shoveling manure than sitting behind a desk ANY DAY RAIN OR SHINE!!!

Well, after realizing all of this, I decided that I need motivation to rise and shine. So, now, I will rise to the urge to ride and shine all day long to think about what I accomplished while most folks would be reading the paper, drinking coffee or sleeping. I WOKE UP AND RODE MY HORSE FOR A MILE AND A HALF AT THE LONG TROT AND LOPE!!!!! And because I did this, when I get home, I can work the fat kid! Or the colt! Or what ever!!! Because I Did my work out this morning!!!!

May.....WOW...Been Busy....

OK, sorry guys! I got back from Heather's wedding and have been sick!!! Yikes! I guess climate and area change really has a BAD affect on me! My sinuses are finally letting go! Anyhow, Joe is still swollen from his surgery and Jeff will be taking him to the vet tonight to have a look over and possibly re-open the hole. Gabe is doing great. I have yet to ride him since his expensive vet trip, but, you guys should have seen him flying in the pasture last Thursday!!! OMG, yeah, I think he is doing much better! I cant wait to ride him, but, today is dedicated to rest! Hopefully in Wednesday I will be well enough to ride. :) My aunt gave us a really cool old saddle that will be awesome to ride the colts in (hick and joe) It dates back at least 30 years! It is a Stelzig saddle. Yup, back in the day, they were the Cadillac's of the saddles.... I cant wait to put it on a horse! Anyhow, the wedding went great and no issues arose. Heather was stunning and I might say that I looked pretty good myself! Of course everything ran late, but, that was funny since it was not my wedding!!! LOL. Anyhow, that is all I have for today!

Been A While!

Well, its has been a while and a LOT has been going on! Joe is off in Vinton having surgery. He is having his balls removed....One of them was deep inside of his abdominal cavity.....he also was freeze branded and had his leg x-rayed. He is FINE! He will return home on Tuesday! Gabe on the other hand had a full work up. He had to have both front ankles injected as well as his left stifle. Yeah, that might explain why he decided to act like TJ at the last barrel race! So, he should be fine! But, it took a BIG toll on the pocket book!!!! YIKES! Gabe's bill was $699 and there is NO telling what Joe's surgery cost! OMG I dont even want to see that bill!!! But, all is well.

Gauge is getting BIG and cute! Dually and Cooter are growing fast too! Tottie is getting more and more like a horse that will stay around for a LONG while! We love her and decided not to sell her. She is so docile and easy to work with. Jeff has been leaning on her back and she just stands there. She will follow you anywhere in the pasture. Chivas and Cooter are still up for sale and hopefully she is bred to Joe. We will be taking Chivas and Day to Delta Equine to have them palpated and get Day's stifles injected. We are also going to go ahead and geld Dually. He dropped at day 5 and is still dropped. We have been told that since he is dropped, we can cut him and it is actually easier on them at this age than it would be at a later date! So, why not!!!

Jeff and I are doing great! Just trying to get the bills paid, trailer fixed up (both of them) animals taken care of and such. He got me a frame for Mothers Day! Anyhow, all is well!
